GöteborgsOperans Danskompani will open the dance and theatre festival Festspiele Ludwigshafen with See You Sunday, created by the choreographic duo Sarah Baltzinger and Isaiah Wilson. For the first time in the company’s history, a new work will receive its world premiere away from its home city.
The choreographers received the Swan Award for Best Dutch Dance Production for Waxes. Their new piece centres on doppelgängers, repetition and fragmented identity, using a physical, precise movement language with touches of understated, surreal humour.

Artistic director Katrín Hall describes the company’s ambitions in terms of artistic development and its connection with audiences: “We want to be a relevant company that is constantly moving forward – one that is willing to take risks, explore new forms and develop its relationship with audiences, both in Gothenburg and internationally.”
The second work on the programme is We made a mess!, choreographed by Botis Seva, which had its world premiere at The Göteborg Opera in February 2026. His choreographic vocabulary combines hip-hop, breakdance and dance theatre with contemporary dance.
The festival engagement and the subsequent home presentation are scheduled as follows:
The opening-night speeches will be delivered by Gordon Schnieder, Minister-President of Rhineland-Palatinate; Lord Mayor Klaus Blettner; and Anneli Strömqvist, Counsellor for Cultural Affairs at the Embassy of Sweden in Berlin.
