“Präludium (style of eye rework)”, a collaboration between Bach Jazz and producer Linus Eklöw, will be released on Friday, 9 October. The producer, known as Style of Eye, is recognized for his work with Galantis and also has Icona Pop’s international hit “I Love It” on his résumé. This is his first released production in five to six years.
The starting point is the trio’s interpretation of Bach’s Prelude in C major, BWV 846. The group consists of Emil Carlsson Rinstad on piano, Magnus Bergström on double bass, and Ola Winkler on drums. An improvised solo phrase from the bassist forms the reworking’s main theme, around which the producer has built rhythms, recorded speech, and electronic sounds. The arrangement brings together Baroque composition and jazz improvisation in modern dance music.
The producer heard the piece’s broken chords and straight, clear groove as elements that could be transferred into an electronic production.
He describes the collaboration as a turning point after having started to think too much about what others would think and feel about his music. “I had lost myself in it,” he says. When he opened himself up to making the remix, he felt that the production developed of its own accord. He describes the result as a bridge to other music he has been working on and a new direction for his work. He has also gathered studio recordings that he does not yet consider ready to be released.
The group released its debut album in 2024. Since then, it has spent over a year on the Swedish charts’ jazz list, played over 50 concerts, and appeared in several TV programs.
The single will be released during the trio’s autumn tour, with performances in churches, concert halls, and at jazz festivals throughout Sweden, followed by an appearance in Moldova:
