This autumn, Carola Häggkvist is embarking on one of her most personal and ambitious projects to date. She is combining a long-awaited autobiography, a new documentary film, and an extensive Nordic tour to celebrate her 60th birthday. The beloved artist, who has held a prominent place in Swedish popular culture since her debut in 1983, will now share her life story with the public, both on stage and in book form.
The autobiography 'Jag är Carola' and the milestones of her career
On September 8, 2026, her birthday, Carola will release her first book: the autobiography ‘Jag är Carola’. Here, she tells her story openly and in detail for the first time about her upbringing and career up to 2002. After forty years in the public eye, Carola changes perspective and invites readers to follow her journey through both successes and challenges—in her own voice.
The book’s release is accompanied by a major tour with over 30 concerts in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, and the Faroe Islands during the autumn. In collaboration with pianist Will Oaks, Carola will let the music meet the stories from her life and songs. Instead of a traditional greatest hits tour, audiences will be treated to exclusive, intimate concerts, where less well-known numbers such as "Krokodilbarnets längtan" and Elvis Presley's "If I Can Dream" will be featured alongside fan favorites like "Främling", "Säg mig var du står" and "Fångad av en stormvind".
Among the tour's highlights is the concert at Sara kulturhus and Scen 1 in Skellefteå on November 21, 2026—a night where both devoted fans and new listeners will get to experience Carola in a unique encounter between music and personal stories drawn from her memoirs.
The birthday and book release will also be celebrated on September 8, 2026, with a grand event at Södra Teatern in Stockholm, where friends, family, and fans are invited to honor Carola’s long career. Additionally, an exclusive concert will be held at Mosebacketerrassen the same day for the most dedicated followers.
During late summer, Carola will offer another intimate musical experience. Between August 20 and 30, 2026, she will give seven sold-out concerts at her new farm in Skåne, where the audience will have the opportunity to get closer to both the artist and her repertoire in a close-to-nature setting.
In parallel with the book and tour project, Carola also stars in a new documentary film reflecting her life journey. The film will have its cinema premiere on August 21, 2026, following its world premiere at the Way Out West festival, and will deeply portray Carola's impact on music and culture in the Nordics.
Tickets for the concert at Sara kulturhus and other tour dates will go on sale Friday, August 14, 2026, at 17:00 via sarakulturhus.se, ticketmaster.se and Skellefteå Turistcenter.
With an autobiography, an extensive Nordic tour, and a documentary film, Carola Häggkvist proves that her significance for Swedish music and culture is as strong as ever. In autumn 2026, both devoted and new listeners will have the chance to encounter Sweden's pop icon up close—in her own story and in her own words.
