Vilma Flood will release “Små saker” on October 23, the first single from her upcoming album “Sista bossen.” The album is due in January and is her first written entirely in Swedish. The title borrows its language from video games and describes a situation where life becomes too hard and all extra lives are used up.
The singer describes the experience behind the songs as “a year of life crisis with obsessive thoughts and separation.” The central figure makes its way into her life and mind, but also takes her out the other side. “The boss is a scary pulse-raiser and can only be defeated if you befriend it, and you don’t really want to,” she says.
The recordings were made at Svenska Grammofonstudion with the Grammy-winning producer Hampus Norén. Among the musicians were Christian Kjellvander on guitar, Christopher Cantillo from Dina Ögon on drums, and Kalle Gustafsson from TSOOL on bass.
The project follows her minor breakthrough with the album “Flood” from 2023, whose intricate soundscape and personal lyrics reached listeners across Sweden. During that period, she performed on SVT and TV4, did a duet with Loney Dear, and toured extensively around the country.
The next release was the three-track EP “Glowing Like a Holy, Ghost,” which was praised by Aftonbladet. The newspaper predicted a well-deserved breakthrough to a broader audience. The EP featured her first recording in Swedish: a translated interpretation of Bette Midler’s “The Rose,” with the title “Rosen.” That recording brought her together with the producer behind the upcoming album.
She has also performed together with Moonica Mac on Så mycket bättre and participated in recordings by The Legends. She also took part in a televised tribute to Olle Adolphson at Cirkus.
In 2025 she sang a duet with Lars Winnerbäck on På spåret. The recording has since been released on streaming services.
