Sheryl Crow, nine-time GRAMMY®-winning artist and member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame since 2023, presents her twelfth studio album Pick You Up, which will be released on October 9, 2026. With this new chapter in Crow’s long career, listeners are once again promised the authentic songwriting and strong presence that have made her one of today’s most influential artists.
Back to classic roots and honest storytelling
The album, written in collaboration with long-time partner Jeff Trott and released by Old Green Barn Productions LLC, consists of seven brand new songs. The arrangements draw inspiration from AAA, rock, singer-songwriter, and americana – styles that formed the foundation of Crow's breakthrough during the 1990s – and offer a sonic landscape that combines the familiar with musical evolution for both devoted and new listeners.
The album's first single, “Freedom Bus” featuring Jesse Welles, is now available on all major streaming platforms. Sheryl Crow comments on the song’s origin and emphasizes the great importance of freedom both personally and for society: “I don’t take freedom for granted because it has been paid for with the lives of others throughout history, and that is something I hope we all can remember when we encounter each other. Our dialogue and ability to have different opinions must reflect what has been sacrificed in blood, sweat, and tears by those who have fought for every man and woman to be equal and enjoy the rights our constitution has given us.”
With themes of hope, community, and sincerity, Pick You Up explores what it means to be human. Crow describes the album as "a commentary on being human and longing for connection,” and adds: “I hope everyone who hears these songs feels the hope I feel when I sing them! I hope they work as a soothing moisturizer for our chapped hearts. We’re all going through a lot in our humanity right now, so being awake can feel like walking through a burning desert. But we are never alone. And there is beauty everywhere – we just have to keep our eyes open.”
The album is adorned with the artwork ‘The Elephant Who Forgot The Ocean’ by the acclaimed artist Tyson Grumm, further highlighting Crow’s focus on artistry and meaning in every detail.
Sheryl Crow’s contributions to music and culture are still celebrated today. She has sold over 50 million albums worldwide and seven of her albums have reached the top 10 chart. Artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, H.E.R., Haim, Maren Morris, Lorde, Sasami, Best Coast, and Brandi Carlile have covered her songs and expressed her enduring influence over new generations.
Crow’s life and career have been depicted in the documentary Sheryl, which received acclaim at its premiere at the SXSW Film Festival 2022 before airing on SHOWTIME. The film provides insight into Crow’s journey, detailing her overcoming challenges such as sexism, ageism, depression, cancer, and the price of fame – a testament to both strength and artistic endurance.
Following the release of the eleventh studio album Evolution on March 29, 2024, Pick You Up continues Crow’s tradition of music that uplifts, unites, and speaks to universal truths.
