In September, the Gävle Symphony Orchestra will bring a broad and varied program to the region, on a three-part tour between 9 and 11 September under the direction of Colombian conductor Ana María Patiño-Osorio. The orchestra, known for its stylistic diversity and strong regional roots, will perform classical European masterpieces and beloved Swedish music in Ockelbo, Söderhamn, and Ljusdal.

The tour premiere will take place at Ockelbo Church on Wednesday, 9 September at 19:00. This is followed by Söderhamns Teater on Thursday, 10 September at 19:00, and the tour finale at Slottegymnasiet in Ljusdal on Friday, 11 September at 18:00. By visiting various types of regional venues, the orchestra demonstrates its commitment to reaching audiences outside the metropolitan concert environments.

The program begins with Mozart's lively overture to "Figaros bröllop" (The Marriage of Figaro) from 1786 – a rhythmic and energetic starting point that invites a musical journey through time. Next, the orchestra's principal trombonist Mikael Appelgren steps forward as soloist in Alexandre Guilmant's "Morceau Symphonique" op. 88. This classic for trombone and orchestra is performed here in an arrangement by the renowned Swedish trombonist and arranger Christian Lindberg, which highlights the piece's lyrical dynamism and technical brilliance – particularly in Appelgren's interpretation.

After the intermission, the concert continues with Wilhelm Peterson-Bergers' first orchestral suite from "Frösöblomster." Inspired by the landscape surrounding Frösön and Jämtland, this work has established itself as one of Swedish music's most popular movements and a symbolic portrayal of national romanticism and a sense of home.

The tour's final number will be Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 1, a groundbreaking piece that links the legacy of Mozart and Haydn with Beethoven's own pioneering approach and stylistic development. The symphony premiered in Vienna in 1800 and marks the beginning of Beethoven's more independent and innovative period.

This tour gives audiences in Gävleborg the opportunity to experience both European classics and Swedish favorites – presented by one of the country's leading orchestras and with internationally renowned guest conductor Ana María Patiño-Osorio. The combination of the orchestra's own soloists and selected repertoire makes the initiative a musical meeting place between international tradition and local engagement.
