beabadoobee Releases New Single “Switchblade” Ahead of Upcoming Album Pylon

British-Filipino singer-songwriter beabadoobee has released her new single “Switchblade”, the second track to be taken from her highly anticipated fourth studio album, Pylon. The album will be released on September 18, 2026, via Dirty Hit and Interscope Records.

“Switchblade” follows the previously released single “Sun Has Set” and offers another glimpse into the emotionally complex sound of the forthcoming record. The song explores themes of self-defence, courage and uncertainty, questioning whether bravery means standing your ground or choosing to walk away.

Rather than offering clear answers, “Switchblade” embraces emotional conflict and confusion. Its lyrics examine the tension between protecting yourself and becoming the person who initiates the fight, reflecting the wider themes at the heart of Pylon.

According to beabadoobee, the album is about accepting that negative emotions will inevitably return and recognising that uncertainty is a necessary part of personal growth.

“Pylon is about accepting that negative feelings are going to come back — accepting uncertainty and the feeling of confusion,” she explains. “All of that is a necessary part of growing and getting to know yourself better. You have to go through all that shit. I have to write about it.”

A New Chapter for beabadoobee

Pylon is the follow-up to 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves, which became beabadoobee’s first album to reach number one on the official UK Albums Chart.

The upcoming record is described as her most varied and complex release to date. Across its 14 tracks, the album moves between anger, loneliness, euphoria, depression and intense romantic obsession, with its conflicting emotions forming a central part of the project.

Born in the Philippines and raised in London, beabadoobee — whose real name is Beatrice Laus — has established herself as one of the leading artists in British alternative music. Her music combines indie rock, alternative pop and deeply personal songwriting.

Throughout her career, she has released three studio albums and five EPs, received multiple BRIT Award nominations and accumulated more than 10 billion streams worldwide.
