beabadoobee is back with the new single “Memories”, the latest preview from the upcoming album Pylon. The album will be released on September 18 and later this fall she will also perform in Sweden, taking the stage at Fryshuset Arenan in Stockholm on November 24.
“Memories” is described by beabadoobee herself as one of the happiest songs on the new album, even though the lyrics contain considerably more melancholy than the upbeat exterior first suggests. The song revolves around the feeling of romanticizing old memories and holding onto moments that once made you happy.
“I cling to thoughts that should make me happy but in fact make me sad, because I wish they were simply moments I could live in forever,” she says about the song.
The single is taken from Pylon, which will be released on September 18 via Dirty Hit/Interscope Records. The album is described as her most multifaceted work to date, where a rawer rock sound meets songs characterized by anger, loneliness, euphoria, and falling in love.
Much of the material was written alone in hotel rooms, a process that according to beabadoobee reminded her of how she wrote music as a 17-year-old at home in her bedroom. Pylon follows up 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves, which became her first album to top the UK album charts.
“Memories” follows the earlier singles “Switchblade” and “Sun Has Set” and is one of a total of 13 tracks on the forthcoming album.
This fall beabadoobee will also embark on her largest tour to date, The Powerlines Tour. For Swedish audiences, there will be a stop in Stockholm on November 24, where she will play at Fryshuset Arenan.
Beatrice Laus, better known as beabadoobee, was born in the Philippines and grew up in London. In recent years, she has established herself as one of the bigger names in British alternative pop and rock, with three albums, several BRIT Awards nominations and over ten billion streams worldwide.
