Vetten Äpärät release "Äiti" ahead of their second album

20. lokakuuta 2026

The Finnish folk metal band Vetten Äpärät has released "Äiti", the first preview from their second album, "Virkos Veren Kasteesta", which is planned for 2027.

The song is about a child growing up under difficult conditions and escaping into another reality to protect their mind from overwhelming traumatic experiences.

The upcoming album continues the fantasy theme from the debut "Syntyi Talven Kyynelistä", which was released in 2016. The metaphorical narrative explores the harsh northern landscape and humanity's desperate struggle to rise above nature and become its ruler.

The group was formed in Helsinki in 2007 and combines heavy metal with dark, icy melodies rooted in nature. The early years were characterized by many lineup changes, but the current lineup has played together for more than a decade.

Sami Ferm is responsible for the vocals and has written the music and lyrics for the new single, while the band is responsible for the arrangement. Anton Nisonen plays drums; he and Ferm are the only original members. Leo Lemmetty plays guitar, Aleksi Kulmala lead guitar, and Jarmo Luopa bass and vocals.
