Edicti, acclaimed for a unique and gentle approach to alternative pop, continues to captivate listeners with the fourth studio album, Toiveuusintoja. The album tackles tranquil and contemplative themes, centering on questions that are never asked, the feeling of security, and fragile voids in everyday life. With this work, Edicti further cements a distinctive voice in Finnish pop.
The title – which means something like "desired reruns" – is inspired by the world of TV culture and serves as a strong metaphor. On the album, listeners are invited to reflect on the choice to face everyday challenges, stay present in what is happening and remain engaged – or instead retreat into the comfort of the familiar and recurring. Edicti portrays this crossroads through a new narrative perspective: whereas earlier work celebrated community, Toiveuusintoja is instead built on observations from the sidelines, silently observing the outside world and its impact.
The album was produced in collaboration with Edicti's recurring partner Okko Ilmari, recognized for work with artists such as Sexmane and KUUMAA. Ilmari's nuanced production allows Edicti's introspective songwriting room to breathe and enhances the sensitive, emotional layers of the album. Their creative partnership also shaped the gold-winning album Joku, jonka luo palata from 2024, and continues along the same path with Toiveuusintoja.
Guest artists on the album include Jaakko Kulta, Lyyti, and Iisa, all of whom contribute their own expressions and add further emotional breadth to the album. Their participation gives the whole a greater range, while still preserving Edicti's sensitivity and opening up for conversations—both silent and articulated.
Edicti's previous success with the streaming hit En sitä tarkoittanut (featuring F), which has achieved multi-platinum status, laid the foundation for a musical career where intimacy and detail are central. With Toiveuusintoja, Edicti takes further steps and explores the tension between retreat and engagement, both in terms of message and soundscape. Edicti is known for genre-bending and emotionally resonant pop, which continues to characterize this album as well.
In conjunction with the album release, Edicti embarks on a tour between October and December 2026. On stage, the audience will encounter both new material and an ongoing artistic development. The combination of personal themes, subtle production, and broadened collaborations strengthens Edicti's position as one of the most interesting voices in Finnish alternative pop.
