Unén has released “Love Story”, a new single from their upcoming studio album, along with a music video in which vocalist Stina Girs plays the lead role. The six-member band, which plays modern melodic metal, approaches the song with a deliberate change of pace: after the heavier and more powerful “Dancing In Flames,” released earlier in 2026, the melody and story are given more room to carry the tension.
At the center is a supernatural romance about love that survives from one life and historical era to the next. Girs connects the narrative to the idea of waiting for someone you have already loved in a previous existence, only to immediately recognize them when you finally meet. The vampire theme gives the longing a broad timespan: the separation can last years or even extend into another life, while the emotional bond remains.
This premise also explains why the slower tempo is important to the song’s structure. Rather than seeing intensity as a direct result of high speed, Unén describes having deliberately slowed things down to highlight the storytelling. The contrast with the previous single is central to the band’s description of the release: whereas “Dancing In Flames” acted as an energetic outburst of heavy rock, “Love Story” has been crafted with greater melodic space and a more concentrated narrative.
A focused song with a far-reaching theme
The band says they wanted to make the song short and focused and to strip away everything that didn't serve a purpose. The stated goal was for every word and every second to count. This creates an interesting contrast to the subject itself: a story that spans several lifetimes is contained within a deliberately concise song. The emphasis is thus on emotional clarity rather than a detailed depiction of the lovers’ history.
In the material surrounding the release, the slower tempo is portrayed as deceptive, with an atmosphere that can feel even more painful and intense than on the previous single. Here lies the core of Unén's approach. A lower tempo does not mean the emotional stakes are reduced; instead, the band describes restraint as another way to maintain pressure. The melody and the central love story become the principal means of conveying this intensity.
The music video develops the same theme, with Girs in the lead role. Through the portrayal, the singer is directly linked to the song’s central narrative, and the depiction of lasting connection gets a visual counterpart. The video, described as intense in the provided material, allows the vampire romance to take shape visually instead of existing only in the lyrics.
Girs, who became known through the Finnish Idols competition, joined Unén as front figure in 2023. The group then released Forever Winter via Frontiers Music Srl in 2025. “Love Story” is now part of the run-up to the next studio album, following “Dancing In Flames” as another example of how the band is presenting their current material.
Unén’s six members are Girs on vocals, Kimmo Pitkänen and Harri Moilanen on guitars, Petteri Sinervä on keyboard, Tomi Kallava on bass, and Timo Larjo on drums. On this release, their stated priority is not maximum forward momentum, but a carefully limited form where melody and narrative remain prominent. “Love Story” embodies the shift through a clear central idea: a close bond that becomes extraordinary by enduring over time.
