With the new single "City of thirst", Stockholm-based RIVER continues to develop her unique place in Sweden's alternative pop scene. The song is a promising taste of the upcoming debut album "A dying source", planned for release in November. The single cements RIVER's reputation for combining suggestive melodies with cinematic soundscapes, further heightening the anticipation for her upcoming release.

In "City of thirst", RIVER explores the charged emotions surrounding temptation and desire. The lyrics revolve around the lure and sometimes destructive draw towards something one already knows is harmful. RIVER has described the song's origin as an intense, personal experience of giving in to something she knew deep down was wrong. Through emotional lyrics and hypnotic arrangement, a deep longing to be part of something greater is conveyed, while also depicting the risks of surrendering to the unknown. Her distinctive vocals and production blend modern pop with dreamy, atmospheric elements.

In addition to the single, an official music video has been released, directed by RIVER herself. The video enhances the song's cinematic qualities with a hyper-stylized, kitsch-inspired aesthetic. Directly inspired by the film Natural Born Killers (1994), it uses surreal and dreamlike images to portray the inner struggle described in the lyrics—a conscious surrender to an all-consuming force. The video's expression not only deepens the music’s emotional impact but also highlights RIVER's versatility as an artist and her ability to transform sound into narrative visual expression.

RIVER's music has garnered increasing attention in Sweden's cultural life during the spring. Her work has received airplay on P3, and both Festivalrykten and Odalisque Magazine have praised her for her fresh voice and innovative songwriting. On stage, RIVER has performed at the well-known Debaser in Stockholm and participated in the culture and ideas festival Brilliant Minds, where she has continued to establish herself as one of the country's most interesting new pop artists.

Now that "City of thirst" is out for streaming and the debut album "A dying source" is approaching, RIVER stands on the brink of her real breakthrough. Listeners can expect an immersive and reflective pop experience when the album is released in November, where confessional lyrics, imaginative production, and a cinematic breadth set RIVER apart on the Swedish pop scene.
