Norrköping Symphony Orchestra will premiere Djuro Zivkovic's Noosphere Exists in a program featuring three works under the leadership of Christian Karlsen. The opening piece revolves around humanity, consciousness, and spirituality.

The composer describes the inspiration as the idea of humanity’s spiritual union through consciousness, knowledge, and love. According to him, the music develops slowly and meditatively, requiring patience and deep attention from the listener.

Afterwards, Yevgeny Sudbin takes the stage as soloist in Sergei Rachmaninoff’s second piano concerto, one of the most beloved works in the romantic piano repertoire. The concerto marked an artistic comeback for the composer after several years of creative crisis. The melody in the second movement later reached a new audience through Eric Carmen’s hit All by Myself.

Following intermission, the concert concludes with Sergei Prokofiev’s fifth symphony, a major challenge for the entire orchestra. The work was written in 1944 during World War II and was described by the composer as a tribute to the noble spirit of free and happy people. Its grand, optimistic character also contains irony, sorrow, and ambivalence.

The concerts will take place at the following venues and times:

  • Friday, October 23, 7:00 p.m. — Crusellhallen, Linköping.
  • Saturday, October 24, 3:00 p.m. — De Geerhallen, Norrköping.
