Myra Granberg releases her third album, Fult att blunda, a ten-song collection about experiences and behaviour people may prefer not to confront. The lyrics move between relationships, grief and mental ill health, then turn to self-absorption, polarisation and leaving somebody else to bear the consequences.
The opening track, “En sån som tänker tanken”, introduces the question running through the collection: how can someone remain honest with themselves when looking away feels easier? All tracks were written and produced with Daniel Hedberg. For the singer, that studio partnership made it possible to approach the work with less self-protection.
“In the studio with Daniel, I have really let my guard down for the first time. Now I dare to look at myself, and I dare to look at the world around me. Together, we have tried to wrap heavy lines in music that leaves us feeling more than defeated. I have never been so nervous in my life about releasing something, because I realise how much this album means to me. It almost feels as though it should be my first, now that I have finally got to know myself a little better,” she says.
The latest single, “One Way Ticket”, channels dystopian anxiety into a portrait of a society where many demand change but few accept responsibility for its direction. “Right now, when life feels so dark, how do we work towards finding the strength to live in it? It is difficult to save the world, but easy to reflect on your own place in it,” she says.
Elsewhere, “Nån annan tar smällen” takes a critical look at the present, while “Tillslut” offers hope and “Vi ses igen” deals with grief.
Timbuktu features on “Har du också känt den”, the fifth track. The other songs completing the running order are “Evergreen” in fourth place, “Vad vare du sa” and “När du lyssnat klart” in sixth and seventh, and the closing “Kramar du mig hårdare”.
The release follows more than a decade of writing, producing and releasing music for a broad audience. Her catalogue has accumulated over 270 million Spotify streams, alongside multiple gold- and platinum-certified singles and nominations for both Grammis and P3 Guld.
Earlier songs including “Lose My Mind”, “HKF (Håll käften och försvinn)” and “Tills mitt hjärta går under” established her combination of expansive pop melodies and lyrics with an intimate emotional focus.
