Man/Woman/Chainsaw release new single 'Something Else To Give' and reveal debut album
London’s pulsating art punk sextet Man/Woman/Chainsaw reinforce their reputation as a band with raw emotional power and innovative songwriting with the new single 'Something Else To Give'. This moving track, described by singer Vera Leppänen as a meditation on “love and disappointment,” is the emotional finale of the band’s highly anticipated debut album 'Cannonball', which will be released on August 7, 2026 via Fiction Records.
The band, formed when its members were just sixteen years old, has rapidly made an imprint on the UK’s dynamic live scene. Their organic and intuitive music-making is fully channelled in 'Something Else To Give', a song about giving everything in a relationship without encountering the same commitment in return. This authenticity has raised eyebrows among critics, and the band has been praised by, among others, The Guardian, Stereogum, and Steve Lamacq on BBC 6 Music, who called them one of London’s most exciting new bands.
"Cannonball": a bold and multifaceted debut album
The album 'Cannonball' is produced by Seth Evans (known for collaborations with Geordie Greep and Black Midi) together with Margo Broom (Fat White Family, Big Joanie), and was recorded at London’s RAK Studios. The record houses eleven tracks, ranging from jubilant choruses to intricate and unconventional structures, and reflects the chaos and euphoria of growing up. Drummer Lola Cherry sums up the band’s development: “We soon realized we weren’t Rage Against the Machine, and instead have embraced the album’s softer sides, which have become a big part of our sound.”
Previous singles such as 'Adam & Steve', 'Only Girl' and 'Nosedive' have already drawn significant attention, including airplay on BBC 6 Music, and carry the same blend of sharp arrangements, theatrical presence and honest storytelling joy. When 'Cannonball' is released physically, it will be available in several vinyl editions: eco-mix black vinyl, a limited edition berry-colored LP with signed insert, as well as a Rough Trade-exclusive blue and clear splatter version with a bonus 7”.
The band’s creative journey—from their first gigs in a converted vicarage to sold-out concerts at London’s Scala and a sold-out UK tour in 2025—highlights their emergence as one of the country’s most promising young experimental groups. Live sessions with KEXP and Steve Lamacq as well as acclaimed performances at SXSW in spring 2025 have further cemented the group’s position among the UK’s new wave of groundbreaking bands.
To celebrate the album’s release, Man/Woman/Chainsaw invite fans to a series of instore appearances across the UK during August 2026, offering a chance to experience the band up close. This will be followed by an extensive headline tour in the UK and Ireland in September and October 2026, where several dates are already sold out, including Glasgow and Bristol. Interest extends across the Atlantic too, as the group’s debut show in New York sold out over three months in advance, with more US dates to be announced.
With 'Cannonball', Man/Woman/Chainsaw achieve what many bands only dream of: crystallizing the wildness and vulnerability of youth into a self-aware, compelling album—and positioning themselves as important voices on the contemporary British music scene.
