Korppifest 2026: The Folk Festival of Alternative Music Returns Free to Tarvaala in Laukaa
In the rural Tarvaala of Laukaa, Korppifest 2026 is preparing to welcome visitors for the ninth consecutive year, on August 21–22, 2026. The festival takes place in the courtyard of Mustan Korpin Saluuna and has established itself as a beloved event for fans of innovative and diverse music. Uniquely, admission is entirely free, but attendance is strictly 18+.
The core of Korppifest from the beginning has been accessibility and musical discovery. With a free admission policy, the festival stands out as a democratic tribute to alternative music. The program is ambitious with two stages and an equally wide spectrum of styles: from Electronic Body Music (EBM) and synthwave to classic suomirock and AOR. The two festival days offer both promising new talents and established acts in a truly genre-crossing spirit.
Two Evenings of Live Music and Playful Competitive Spirit
Friday, August 21, 2026 kicks off the party, with the first act on stage already at 18:45. The evening’s lineup consists of:
- The Traitors
- Akseli Hiltunen & Kanssaloisaktivistit
- Nelosolut
- Le Roi
- The Länkkärs
- Oliver
Each band brings their own interpretation of alternative music and opens up a weekend that blurs genre boundaries and awakens new musical passions.
Saturday, August 22, 2026 offers something extra for both gamers and music lovers. The day starts at 15:00 with the popular retropeli-etkot where Retroherra Virtanen hosts competitions with 8-bit Nintendo classics such as Duck Hunt and Super Mario Bros. This begins the day with playfulness and togetherness before live music resumes at 18:00 with:
- Janne Suhonen & Surmanajajat
- Savoy Surf
- Kolorado
- SääTänäÄ
- Rain Diary
- Miseria Ultima
- NightStop
The audience can expect everything from suggestive synth-driven melancholy to raw rock energy, in line with Korppifest’s ambition to keep its content lively and unexpected.
The rural setting adds a special atmosphere – the festival serves as an escape from the city’s pace and becomes a close encounter with the wide expressions of alternative music. However, participants must be at least 18 years old.
For visitors traveling farther, Korppifest offers a special festival bus from Jyväskylä, with stops in Leppävesi, Vihtavuori, and central Laukaa. The buses depart each day – Friday at 17:45, Saturday at 16:30 – and return from Mustan Korpin Saluuna at 01:30. The journey costs 10 euros per direction. Payment is made by cash or bank card on board. Seat reservations are made in advance via the festival’s official online form to secure a place.
With its mix of progressive music, sense of community, and playful retro party, Korppifest 2026 continues to be a unique meeting place for alternative culture in the Finnish countryside. For both local music enthusiasts and curious visitors, an unforgettable August weekend awaits under the northern sky.
