Grymlings announce farewell concert on the island where the band began

9 oktober 2026

Grymlings will play their final concert at Wisby Strand on Gotland on Saturday, 3 April 2027. Several guest artists with connections to the group will join the farewell performance.

“It has been a fantastic journey, but now it is over,” says founder Mikael Rickfors. For him, returning to the island is a natural choice because of its importance to the group’s history.

The band began in 1990 at the farm that gave it its name. He owned the property and invited musician friends and their families there to write songs and record together. Those sessions produced the debut album, which sold 170,000 copies. Across their first 35 years, the musicians gave only three concerts, despite releasing three albums. An intensive period of touring began in 2025, with appearances at some of Sweden’s largest festivals.

Original members Pugh Rogefeldt and Magnus Lindberg have since died. The later line-up includes Lasse Lindbom, who produced the first record, and Dan Hylander. Both also have established careers outside the group. Their individual repertoires will form part of the evening: the former’s “Tänd ett ljus” and “Tala om vart du ska resa”, and the latter’s “Skuggor i skymningen” and “Farväl Katalonien”.

The programme will also include the founder’s solo hits “Vingar” and “Som stormen river öppet hav”, alongside Lagerberg’s “Every Raindrop Means A Lot” from his time in Tages. Songs from the band’s catalogue include “Mitt bästa för dig”, “Där gullvivan blommar” and “En glädjesång”.
