The Swedish rock band Spiders are back with a powerful statement in the form of their new album Crystal Eyes. The album was recorded at the renowned Svenska Grammofonstudion in Gothenburg and is the result of close collaboration between the producer duo Kalle Gustafsson Jerneholm and György Barocsai as well as the band itself. The members speak of strong dedication throughout the recording process, where they pushed their creative boundaries and took the band to a new level.
For Spiders, working on Crystal Eyes has been a transformative experience. Together with Jerneholm and Barocsai, the band delved into every aspect of the recordings. The result is an album that pulses with the raw energy and uncompromising approach that has distinguished Spiders from the start: personal, bold, and with respect for both the roots and the future of rock. The highly collaborative atmosphere at Svenska Grammofonstudion helped the group find new layers in their sound and elevated the songs in unexpected directions.
Since their start in 2012, Spiders have built a strong reputation on stages around Europe and the USA. With their mix of classic rock 'n' roll, touches of garage, punk and new wave, their previous releases – Flash Point, Shake Electric, Killer Machine, and Sharp Objects (2025, Wild Kingdom) – have established the band’s unique voice and explosive performance style. With Sharp Objects the band took a new step and rediscovered their creative core.
In connection with the launch of Sharp Objects, Spiders embarked on an extensive tour with fellow Swedes The Hellacopters. The collaboration was deepened through a joint single, featuring music from rock icon David Johansen. Earlier this year, Spiders also completed a tour of Spain together with The Soundtrack of Our Lives, further strengthening the band's reputation as enduring live artists and a progressive force within the rock scene.
Spiders have been praised by both critics and audiences for their distinctive sound. Their music has often been described as "70s-inspired hard rock," "Motörhead ruckus," and a "riff party" – descriptions that capture the energy and authenticity of the group’s expression. Praise has come from established magazines such as Classic Rock, Record Collector, Sweden Rock Magazine, and Vive Le Rock.
With Crystal Eyes, Spiders continue to push the boundaries of alternative rock while embracing their passion and drive. The album encompasses both the legacy of rock and a bold vision for the future, clearly marking their development and the collective vision behind the new material.
