Today, September 18, Björn Holmgren releases his second EP "Jag blundar". Across six new tracks, he moves between social criticism, reflections on the state of the world, and personal thoughts about his own upbringing and how it has shaped him.
The EP's focus track "Långa ärmar" tackles a difficult subject, dealing with children who suffer when the adult world fails them. The song also depicts the guilt a child might carry after witnessing things happen without understanding how to intervene or handle the situation.
Musically, the story is framed by a string arrangement that evokes the happy innocence of childhood, while the lyrics tell of a considerably darker fate.
– With these new songs, I'm raising topics I haven't really touched on before. I've both scrutinized myself and looked out into the world. Politics and core values have also found their way into the music to a large extent, says Björn Holmgren.
From viral success to Swedish festival stages
Björn Holmgren had his major breakthrough in spring 2022 with the single "Ut med allt", which immediately reached the top spot on Spotify's Swedish singles chart on its release day.
Since then, he has established himself on the Swedish pop scene and collaborated with artists and songwriters such as Olivia Lobato, Jens Hult, Klara Almström, Lisa Howard, and Clara Klingenström.
His career began as a street musician in London, but in recent years Holmgren has taken the step to much larger stages and festivals around Sweden. He has also appeared on TV programs such as Melodifestivalen 2025, Lotta på Liseberg, and Idol, while his music is regularly played on P4.
Alongside his music, he also runs the podcast "Hälsa Morsan" together with Isak "Fjortisper" Löb and Emilia Rehnberg.
