At Väinölänniemi in Kuopio, Kuopiorock 2026 has kicked off with powerful tones of rock, pop, metal, and punk. The festival area opened its doors at 16:00, and a weekend of musical celebration has begun, with attendance records expected to be broken. As Savonia's largest festival and a staple on the region's summer scene, Kuopiorock offers an ambitious three-day schedule with over 40 artist groups on four stages, where both iconic names and promising newcomers take the stage.

The festival's lineup is a carefully selected journey through Finnish music history and current trends. Thursday is headlined by the legendary Amorphis, goth rockers The 69 Eyes, pop innovator Ellinoora, Canadian hard rock band Danko Jones, as well as the progressive Von Hertzen Brothers. Additionally, Jonna Tervomaa, Uniklubi, the timeless Pelle Miljoona & Band, and new voices such as Aino & Hajonneet, Northern Doom, and Jatkoroikka666 will perform. These acts set the tone for a weekend where the classical meets contemporary expression.

Friday further features crowd favorites Turmion Kätilöt as well as the ever-popular Dingo, whose energetic numbers have enthralled Finnish listeners for decades. The audience will also experience Nylon Beat, the heavyweights Tarot, Maija Vilkkumaa’s electropop, the monster-themed rockers Lordi, and Swedish H.E.A.T. Punk influences are delivered by Nyrkkitappelu, and the day's diversity is further enhanced with performances by VIIVI, Aliisa Syrjä, and Mummopunk, among others.

As Saturday arrives, anticipation builds for a historic moment: the cult band Eppu Normaali will give their last festival performance ever, thus concluding a career of over fifty years that has shaped the identity of suomirock. The evening may be rounded off with a grand fireworks display, weather permitting. Also on stage are Käärijä, glam rockers Negative, punk group Klamydia, gothic band Charon, and audience favorites such as Neljä Ruusua, Happoradio, and hip-hop/punk fusionists Atomirotta. Among the exciting newcomers from the country's Rock Academies are Kantor, Terromania, and Licuation, demonstrating the festival’s commitment to new talent.

In addition to the stage program, Kuopiorock 2026 broadens the festival experience with a wide range of activities and services. Visitors can choose from a variety of food and beverage options, area programs, and family-friendly entertainment such as bouncy castles, jewelry making, crafting stations, and face painting. The VIP area offers a show drummer and professional styling by Studio Alex T's team. The festival atmosphere is enhanced by dance groups and improvised performances, and the organizers foster an inclusive spirit where fans of all ages feel welcome. Admission is unrestricted by age, but VIP requires visitors to be 18 years or older.

Demand for tickets has been exceptional, with both Saturday passes and 3-day VIP sold out. Remaining tickets are sold at the entrance as long as supplies last and through trusted resellers Tiketti and Lippu.fi. This strong sales performance reflects the festival’s appeal and the significance of this year’s lineup, especially for those wishing to be part of Eppu Normaali’s farewell.

With Real Albert Promotion as organizer and festival general Allu Koskinen at the helm, Kuopiorock stands out not only as a music event but also as a celebration of community and cultural heritage. Here, established artists are mixed with hopeful newcomers and experiences for all visitors. When the final chords of Eppu Normaali's last festival performance close the Kuopio summer, Kuopiorock 2026 will have cemented its place in Finnish music history.
