The Stockholm trio Amor y Vida continue the story that began with their debut single "Pockets" on "Without You", a new single where their three-part harmonies are at the center of an intimate folk and Americana arrangement. The song will be released on October 23, 2026 via EMI Sweden/Universal Music Sweden and develops the sound that first introduced Alicia Panambi, Sara Danielsson and Tilde Schweitzer as a group.
"Without You" revolves around the painful gap between knowing a relationship is over and still wanting to stay in it or return. Emotionally, the song is about a plea for more time, even as the narrator understands the other person has already moved on. Instead of depicting heartbreak as a single moment of realization, the song focuses on the impulse to postpone an ending, even though its meaning is understood.
The restrained arrangement reinforces that tension. Most of the song was recorded live in Studio Rymden, with Daniel Bengtson as producer. The approach keeps the performance close and gives the instruments space, while the singers’ interwoven voices create the song’s distinctive timbre. Wilma Wall plays drums, Hilda Nordkvist contributes on double bass, and pianist Joel Lyssarides adds another layer to the recording.
A sound shaped by common voices
Amor y Vida was formed after Panambi, Danielsson, and Schweitzer sang together at a jazz gig in 2022 and discovered that their voices blended naturally. The trio brings together experience in songwriting, Sweden’s independent music scene, and touring. The musical identity centers on three-part vocal harmony, with guitar, pedal steel, and trombone among the instruments shaping an expression somewhere between intimate folk and Americana, acoustic fragility, and more abstract tones.
That range clearly ties "Without You" to "Pockets", without the new single becoming a repeat of the debut. The previous release laid a warm, harmony-driven foundation; the follow-up places it in a song about a difficult emotional negotiation. The live recording also enhances the intimacy and allows the vocals and musicians to share the arrangement without pushing aside the song’s core emotion.
The band’s description of the song highlights a familiar but complicated experience: staying in or returning to a relationship despite knowing it is over. The wish for just a bit more time becomes the emotional center of the song—not as a claim that the relationship can be restarted but as an expression of how hard it can be to accept an ending. This perspective gives the song its subdued intensity: the desire to hold on stands side by side with the realization that the other person no longer feels the same.
With "Without You", Amor y Vida develop the folk and Americana aesthetic introduced on "Pockets", through dense harmonies, restrained ensemble playing, and thoughtful songwriting. The trio’s shared voices remain in focus, while the live studio recording and the contributions from Wall, Nordkvist, and Lyssarides add depth without taking the song away from its intimate scale. The single will be released on October 23, 2026 via EMI Sweden/Universal Music Sweden.
