Magnus Uggla at Gröna Lund – a crowd-pleasing celebration from the very first note

When Magnus Uggla, “Kungen i baren”, stepped onto Gröna Lund’s main stage, the crowd erupted instantly. Some artists need no introduction, and Uggla is definitely one of them. With his natural stage presence, seasoned confidence and that mischievous, boyish spark in his eye, he took command of the evening from the very first moment.

The concert opened with the classic “Jag mår illa”, and the response was immediate. The audience sang along from the first chorus, and the atmosphere in front of the stage was electric right away. It was the kind of opening that quickly erased the distance between artist and audience — everyone was in it from the start.

After the opening number, the evening seemed to continue with the same energy and presence. At least, that was the feeling as we photographers had left the area in front of the stage and the audience could still be heard singing along inside Gröna Lund. The atmosphere clearly carried beyond the stage area, which says a lot about the celebration Magnus Uggla had set in motion.

Uggla quickly showed why he remains one of Sweden’s most beloved live performers. His songs have a special ability to combine sharpness, humour and a spot-on social perspective, all carried by melodies that are deeply rooted in the audience.

What impresses about Magnus Uggla is not only the catalogue of songs, but also how playfully and boldly he handles them on stage. He has a rare ability to balance irony, self-distance and seriousness without ever losing contact with the crowd. Every gesture, glance and movement feels considered, but never stiff. It is experienced, yet still very much alive.

The band also got its space during the opening I experienced, and Uggla made it clear that he is not simply standing in front of a production — he is part of it. Everything felt both professional and genuine, with a strong presence from the very beginning.

The audience responded with singalongs, cheers and a warmth that made the opening feel like more than just a few songs. Magnus Uggla quickly creates a shared experience where the audience is invited in from the very first note.

Magnus Uggla once again showed that he is an artist with presence, humour and heart. A true entertainer, with a song catalogue that continues to engage generation after generation.

To put it simply: Magnus Uggla is brilliant.
