Egotrippi's Sunday evening concert at the Huvila tent in Helsinki on August 30th was dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the band's Vielä koittaa uusi aika album. The sold-out concert brought together fans of all ages, which in itself speaks to the band's long and successful career.

The band created a program for the anniversary concert at the Huvila tent that differed slightly from a regular gig. The first part of the evening was dedicated to the lesser-played songs of the band's career. The setlist included songs that have not typically been heard at Egotrippi’s concerts in recent years. This choice brought a pleasant element of surprise to the concert and gave longtime fans the chance to hear some rarer tracks as well.

After the first half, there was about a 30-minute intermission. After the break, the actual celebration part of the evening began, as Egotrippi performed the Vielä koittaa uusi aika album in its entirety. The 20th anniversary of the album, which was released in 2006, was thus given its deserved due, as the album was performed from start to finish as a unified concert piece.

However, it was not yet time to head home after the album section. In the third and perhaps most anticipated part of the evening, Egotrippi brought out the biggest hits of their career. At this stage, the Huvila tent’s audience truly found their voice, as well-known songs followed one another and the shared history between the band and the audience, spanning decades, became tangible.

The almost three-hour concert was built into an exceptionally broad and functional whole. The combination of seldom-heard songs, a full album, and the biggest hits offered a comprehensive cross-section of Egotrippi’s career, rather than just a nostalgic string of hits. As a result, the audience left the Huvila tent at the end of a long but well-founded musical journey.
